The all-new 2017 Lincoln MKX offers an audio system from Revel,® an exclusive loudspeaker brand cherished by audiophiles. The unique speaker placement, the only automotive application of custom Revel Waveguides and point source architecture plus the first combination of Revel technologies QuantumLogic Surround® and Clari-Fi™ all come together to personalize the audio experience throughout the cabin. The 19-speaker Revel Ultima system is standard on Lincoln Black Label editions, and available on Reserve. A 13-speaker Revel audio system is available on Select and Reserve models.
Potentially helping parking scenarios is the available 360-degree camera system. When the camera button is pushed in Drive, Park or Neutral, the Lincoln Star badge between the two grille surrounds moves out about 1 inch and tilts up to deploy the available front camera. Video images from four cameras – one in the front, two in the side mirrors and one in the back – are stitched together to give the driver a bird’s eye view all around.
Available new 2.7-liter GTDI V6 engine employs high-tech materials and innovative strategies to deliver excellent power and refinement. The material in the cylinder block includes compacted graphite iron, which is normally used in diesel engines, for strength and aluminum that reduces engine weight. Hydromounts for the engine and transmission help absorb engine vibration and keep them out of the cabin.
Several safety innovations have been added to the 2017 Lincoln MKX, which earned a 5-star overall crash rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. A patented front bumper assembly is designed to transfer crash load to the front rails which help reduce occupant compartment intrusion. Also new is the active glove box airbag, which uses an inflatable plastic bladder integrated into the glove box door to provide front passenger knee protection.
